Restaurants

Lots of restaurants advertise that they have gluten free food but not all of them are fully aware of the severity of cross contamination.  In fact, a good way to test them on their knowledge is to ask if they are careful about cross contamination.  If they look at you like they are offended that you used the word contamination in their restaurant, then they probably don't know it's even an issue.

A good quick reference for finding a gluten free restaurant is the Find Me Gluten Free app. Restaurants are rated and you can read why they got 5 stars vs 1 star.  You can type in an address to find something ahead of time or you can use the GPS and find restaurants close by.

Cross contamination doesn't mean their restaurant is dirty, it means you have to change your gloves if you touched a flour tortilla before you touch my food, or even my bowl.  Being celiac means you are that sensitive!

  1. The new Costa Vida restaurant had made almost all of their foods, including sauces, gluten free. They list the only items that contain gluten are wheat tortillas and 2 types of desserts. That's pretty amazing for a restaurant!
